Introducing jiu-jitsu and all the rules

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu emphasizes ground fighting rather than using standing techniques such as striking. The rules of this fight include a variety of techniques such as single-leg takedown or double-leg takedown. This is what distinguishes Jiu-Jitsu from other martial sports.

This field, like other sports, has different degrees. The grades of the athletes are awarded based on their technical knowledge and fighting in the arena.

Competitions in this sport are divided into five-minute rounds, with a two minutes rest between them.

Athletes’ fingernails and toenails should be completely short. trimness is so important in this sport. Compliance with health principles is one of the most important principles that athletes in this field must follow.

Athletes should avoid grabbing, biting and punching the head while fighting.

Participating in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes makes athletes burn a lot of calories. As a result, martial artists must have proper nutrition in order to have enough energy during training. But martial artists should note that the less fat and lighter they are, the faster and more efficient they will be. As a result, they can perform better in competitions and win.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class equipment

In general, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu does not require special equipment. But the athletes must show up with special clothes in their class. These special clothes are called “GI”, which are available in white, black and blue.

Another required piece of clothing in these classes is a belt. The colour of these belts depends on the degrees that martial artists have achieved. The belts of beginners are white. Professional athletes also wear waistbands in black and red. Getting a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu takes several years. When a martial artist succeeds in obtaining this belt, it means that he has reached the rank of master.

The rash guard is also considered one of the necessary coverings in this sport. In fact, the rash guard is a type of protective clothing that prevents an athlete’s body from abrasion with surfaces.

Even though Jiu-Jitsu is known as one of the safe sports, it is better for athletes to use a mouth guard while fighting.

Using sports tape can also protect the knuckles from abrasion and twisting.

Participating in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class develops body function and brain efficiency. Because the athletes in this field have to decide at the moment to use the most effective technique.
